  • Love Island star suffers miscarriage just days after finding out she was pregnant

Anna Vakili suffered a miscarriage just days after discovering she was pregnant. The Love Island star was left “crying and screaming” after the tragedy.

The reality star and pharmacist, who entered the villa in 2019, made the heartbreaking revelation on Sisters in the City, the podcast she hosts with her sister Mandi. She woke up in the early hours of the morning to go to the toilet during a getaway to the Cotswolds with her boyfriend, Cowslick, and discovered she was bleeding.

The 35-year-old said: “And then I was just like, ‘What’s going on?’ I don’t know anything about pregnancies and I was like, ‘What does this mean?’.

“So I Googled it and it said something like it could be implantation when like it’s a little bit of blood which is normal, or at a certain point of pregnancy, or if it’s a lot of blood it could be a miscarriage, or a few other things that it could be, but most likely a miscarriage.”

Anna said she decided to wake her boyfriend to share her concerns, but eventually went back to sleep. But when she woke up in the morning, she found more blood – and that’s when she realised it was likely a miscarriage.

She said: “I went back to sleep but I woke up in the morning at like nine and I went to the toilet and there was just like so much blood and that’s when I knew, from reading the symptoms and if it’s clotted, it’s most likely a miscarriage.”

Getting emotional on the podcast, Anna said she had “two big shocks” in the space of a week – first discovering she was pregnant and shortly after, experiencing the miscarriage.

A miscarriage is the loss of a pregnancy during the first 23 weeks. Symptoms can include vaginal bleeding and cramping and pain in your lower tummy, the NHS explains. If you have any symptoms of miscarriage, it is important to get medical help.

The former Islander said she was “crying and screaming” at the hotel, adding that both she and Cowslick were “really upset”. The couple reunited in July last year after splitting a few months previously, in March.

Anna has shared with fans that she had been freezing her eggs. She said: “My only regret is that I didn’t do this sooner! I was never really that maternal so I went along life not thinking about it. Only in the last year it really hit me that I should consider taking some measures to ease some of the pressure that so many women go through when it comes to our fertility clock.”

Last summer, Anna – who was on the same Love Island series as Molly-Mae Hague, Tommy Fury and Curtis Pritchard – revealed she was forced to move out of her flat after spending all the money she made on the back of the show. Speaking on behalf of WhichBingo, she said: “Going on Love Island is great but it can go up and go down.

“I made so much money when I came off Love Island but I got so excited I spent all of it and at one point I lost everything and had move out of my flat. Now with the podcast it’s gone back up and I’m not making the same mistakes I did when I was first out of Love Island.

“I’m going to be smart this time. I grew up most of my life struggling for money and suddenly I got money and I didn’t know how to manage it but you live and you learn and I’m lucky I’ve been given another chance.”
